Been a long time....

Sorry for my lack of updating. Life has gotten the best of me. Between colds, Tom's travel, stomach bugs, Tom's travel, work, the kids, I have barely been keeping life afloat at our house. Plus the weather here has been dreamy so who wants to stay inside? The kids had a great halloween, a great visit from the Hercun's and a visit from Grandma Barb and Grandpa Ted.

You know the visits are lots of fun when you forget to get your camera out. Drew has been playing golf and soccer. He scored a goal last night and was SO EXCITED! It is so much fun to see. Drew also had a run in with his nightstand that required an ER trip and some glue to fix a deep gash! He'll be sporting a black eye in our holiday pictures.

Is it really September?????

Every day I think it must be getting cooler here, but it honestly feels warmer? Maybe the humidity is higher or maybe it is because I have been sick forever! I am headed back to the doctor again tomorrow. We have all been sick, but while the boys are on the mend I am not.

We went bowling for the first time a few weeks ago. Drew had a blast and Jack was a little young for it.

Jack and Drew started school this week. Drew loves and now so does Jack. Jack has been excited to be a blue bird for a whole year! Drew is a penguin as you can see from his hat! Jack wouldn't look at me or smile for a picture, gotta love a 2 year old!

Welcome Back Jack!!!!!!!!

Jack had a rough couple of months and they are over. He is his old happy Jack. We are so glad to have him back :) What a chatter box he is. He has always talked well, but now he talks in complete sentences and can negotiate quite well. He wants to be like his Uncle Evan!

We had an awesome trip to the beach with the Frazier family. We had so much fun, the boys could have stayed all night.

Drew starts pre-K next week and Jack starts preschool for the first time. They are both so very excited!

boys

We are having so much fun this summer. We have had lots of time with all of the grandparents and lots of other family. We enjoyed the cool weather in the Midwest but do enjoy the heat in Texas. Drew is quite the swimmer. He is truly on his own at the pool--as strange as that may seem for me. Jack thinks he is 12 and can swim on his own. He actually does pretty well. I love his counting before he jumps in---4,6,8 JUMP. He really is a character! Lately he carries around a pink baby doll that he calls Baby Efan (Ethan for the rest of us). Our friend Erin had a new baby Ethan a few months ago and Jack LOVES him. Jack is worried because his baby doll "Won't close him eyes for him nap!"

Summer Fun!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Fun

It is summer in Texas and we are having so much fun! Lots of swimming and playing outside. Drew is 4 1/2 and he will let you know that. He LOVES to swim almost as much as loves the color green. Jack is also part fish and loves to jump into the water as of the weekend. He announces very loudly that he will be doing a cannon ball and then just steps of the edge of the pool straight into the water. Rest assured that whatever he does it will be done solo. Most often heard phrase from Jack is "I do myself." Jack LOVES he red fire truck rain boots. He sports them constantly. Rain, sun, pool, park Jack wears the boots. We even had a man in a truck next to us at at stoplight notice those boots! You will also notice the birthday hat. He loves that hat.

End of School...

Drew has moved on from being a Robin. His preschool finished last week and now summer has started! I just loved his class this year. The teachers were fabulous. I told them I want to put them in my pocket and carry them with me through the journey of motherhood. The wisdom and patience that they shared with me and Drew were superb. Drew's class also had a great mix of students and parents. We have made many friends and are so thankful for our experience. I was so sad for it to be complete. When did Drew grow up? He has just gotten so "big" lately. Between riding the bike, swimming, going on real rides at Sea World (and being patient to stand in line) I just can't find where the time has gone. He is my little buddy now!

We did venture to Sea World and had a great time. We rented this nice little cottage in the hills. It would have been a wonderful place to stay if JACK WANTED TO SLEEP at the little cottage. With a 5am wake up time we decided to cut our trip short one day. Despite the little sleep Sea World was so much fun. I think I love it as much as they do.

Jack is my little challenge. He as cute as ever one minute and an all out monster the next!!! Some people don't believe he has the monster in him, but just ask my friend Erin-she has seen him on the edge!! He talks non-stop---have no idea why both of my kids talk so much, they must take after Tom :) Jack is so excited to be in preschool next year--he'll be a bluebird. Just ask him and he will tell you all about it.

I'll post some pictures and videos... enjoy

PS People please put bike helmets on your kids and set a good example by sporting one yourself!!!!

jack

watch out lance...

We had a very exciting weekend here. Drew left his training wheels at the curb and took of on two wheels. It only took about ten minutes of Tom running behind him to get the hang of it. He has done really well. We even went on a bike ride around the subdivision. The video isn't that exciting but does show off his new skill!

Hope you all had as much fun this weekend as we did!

Goodbye Friends...

When I was in middle school my good friend Carla moved to Seattle. Around the same time our next door neighbors also moved. The Humke's weren't just neighbors they were part of our family. After college I was they one who started moving. Along the way I have made so many friends and said so many sad farewells that it is overwhelming to think about. On the very bright side, I have friends all over the country. These friends keep in touch and continue to be a part of my life if even at a distance.
Now, as the Hercun's move, our friends will span to Canada! The only thing harder about this good bye is trying to explain to Drew why his "best buddy" is leaving. Of all the things I wish for my children I wish them many friendships throughout their life.
We will certainly miss Deb, Jason, Carter and Avery. During the past few years, we went from being mothers of one to mothers of two. We tackled sleep challenges and sassy kids. We had two little boys who we thought would NEVER share and now they can actually play with the same toy at the same time. We spent holidays together. We went from not knowing many people to having the best friends any girl could ask for. Even better we all had fun as couples! My favorite thing about my friends in Texas is how much we laugh.
I'll be missing you Deb!

Vacation

We went away without the kids to Mexico for 5 days! We had a wonderful time on a well deserved and needed vacation. Our wonderful sitter Cassandra took excellent care of our boys and they didn't even care we were gone :) The pictures are the extent of what we did. We ate and spent lots of time reading and sleeping on the beach. The resort had beds with pillows on the beach. We did play some beach volleyball-and someone asked me if I played in college. We got a really good laugh out of that one. Now we are on for March Madness. GO DUKE!!!! We

also wish WI well, but don't have the epectations we have for my Blue Devils!
